Introducing the MAN TGE Commercial Van.
Welcome, the MAN TGE! We have all heard of a man in a van but how about man in a van in a MAN van? Well that now can become a reality with bus and a large commercial maker MAN entering the world of light commercial vehicles. Building upon their family relationship with the Volkswagen Group, MAN have created their first van based upon the very popular new VW Crafter, the MAN TGE. It is a prudent choice by MAN to base their first van upon the Crafter seeing that it has been unveiled as International Van of the year 2017.
As expected from a company known for it is lorries, MAN have packed a lot of space into the TGE. MAN through there bespoke styling process, have managed to pull even more space out of its Crafter base while managing to keep the interior sizing the same. This increased space gives the MAN TGE maximum load capacity and is now a massive 18.4 cubic meters on its biggest variant, giving the TGE a gross of between 3.0 and 5.5 tonnes, giving you enough space to fix up to six euro-pallets.
The MAN TGE will come with a wide range of size choices and body types. On offer, will be three body lengths; standard, large and extra-large as well as 4 roof heights. Along with the panel van, expect Combi-Van & Crew Cab with a Platform Body
Inside the cab, you get the same basic space and layout as with the Crafter. Though there are some differences that are not purely aesthetic. The changes that MAN is introducing have been focused on one thing in particular, driver comfort. They are calling the driver’s seat, a seat for everyone featuring 6 different variants with features such as electronic operation, ergoActive mode, seat springs and even an integrated massage function.
The MAN TGE has been designed for the stop and go nature of modern traffic with features such as Emergency Brake Assist, Rear Traffic Assist, Park Steering Assist, Side Wall Protection Assist, Active Lane Assist and Trailer Assist. To make things easier on the driver, as well as the standard 6 speed manual gearbox the TGE will come in an automatic variant. The MAN TGE VAN 8-speed automatic gearbox has been designed to make driving the new TGE as easy and efficient as possible.
Under the hood, we are getting the same engine variants that are found on the new Crafter, giving you the choice of four different 2.0 litre turbodiesel engines allowing you to choose between 102-177PS and 280-410Nm of torque. The headline rate of fuel economy is 42mpg.
One of the big selling points that MAN is pushing with TGE over other similar sized vans is that MAN will be offering a service based on the one that the offer their truck customers. This means you can get 24-hour breakdown assistance, out of hours’ maintenance facilities and highly flexible workshops, designed to get you back on the road and back in business and quickly as possible.
