I think now in the UK we’ve all got used to the concept of Clean Air Zone (CAZ), ULEZ, LEZ and other similar type of clean air zone schemes.

Since London introduced the first Congestion Charge zone a few years ago now, similar schemes have been implemented around the UK, and the trend seems to be none stop with many new cities adding new clean air zones in what’s remaining of 2021 and 2022, including the expansion of London’s ULEZ in October 2021.

From recent stats coming out of London, it seems the scheme has worked, and air quality in the city has improved since the scheme started, which is a good thing! However, there’s no question these schemes have caused havoc to drivers living or visiting these cities that have to cover the cost of expensive daily charges or change their vehicles to electric or hybrid versions that do not come cheap either.

Added to the elevated cost of an electric vehicle, the charging point infrastructure in the UK has not grown at the speed needed for electric vehicles to be a realistic option.

From the business point of view almost all new light commercial vehicles such as vans, come with the new Euro 6 engine, but as these schemes get stricter and stricter the safest bet would be to jump into electric van wagon and go for a full electric van, this way you’re 100% sure you won’t have to cover expensive daily charges.
