The latest figures are for the first of the year and show which vans and pickups were the most popular so far in 2023.

#10 Volkswagen Transporter  

The Volkswagen Transporter’s popularity is due to the wide range of models available, combined with a strong choice of engines. This medium-sized van has something for everyone. It also has plenty of safety systems and a respectable level of comfort, helping the Transporter hold its value well. 

#9 Renault Master  

The Renault Master is another long-standing option in the large van sector, although it appears in the best-selling list from time to time. It falls behind more modern rivals on technology and comfort, but it still offers plenty in terms of versatility and practicality. 

#8 Ford Ranger  

The Ford Ranger is consistently the UK and Europe’s bestselling pickup. It is good-looking and versatile, and the latest 2.0-litre engines provide plenty of performance yet with far greater refinement. The Ranger Raptor high-performance model is also great fun. There are lifestyle versions and versions that can take a payload pushing a tonne. An all-new version is due, but not until the end of 2023 at the earliest, so buyers can continue to enjoy this version for a while yet.

The Citroen Berlingo is one of five near-identical small vans, sharing pretty much everything with the Peugeot Partner, Toyota Proace City, Vauxhall Combo, and the Fiat Doblo. While the Citroen doesn’t have much to make it stand out from those other four, it is still an excellent small van that offers an impressive payload, a high level of equipment, and a decent driving experience.
